Pipe, Duct, and Machinery Lagging Covers
Sound Seal's™ Lag Series combines a loaded vinyl noise barrier with a fibrous glass scrim reinforced aluminum foil facing on the outside. B-10 LAG is commonly used for wrapping noisy iron, steel, and plastic pipe, ducts, valves, and heat exchangers in a variety of indoor and outdoor applications. It exhibits excellent corrosion and outdoor weather resistance, high strength and excellent conformability characteristics. The reinforced foil facing readily accepts a matching tape for an easy, uniform, and good looking installation. B-10 LAG is available in combination with a nominal 1" thick (B-10 LAG / QFA-3) or 2" thick (B-10 LAG / QFA-9) quilted fiberglass decoupler on the inside of the product to form a tight fitting floating noise barrier.
The effectiveness of an acoustical lagging material like the B-10 LAG is a function of the following:
Frequency of the source (more effective with higher frequency)
Mass and thickness of the surface being covered (more effective on light sheet metal, etc.)
Multiple layers of B-10 LAG are more effective.
Thickness of the isolation layer.
