Acoustic Foams & Composites
![]()
Sonex acoustical foams are the recognized leader in providing superior performance in absorptive acoustical treatment for noise control. These products are the most advanced noise control products available. Most of the products meet ASTM E84 Class 1 standards for flammability and smoke density and are fiber free. Some of the products are available in polyurethane foam, an economic alternative for the few applications that do not require Class 1 fire-rated materials. Most of the products are available in 2' x 4' sheet sizes to allow for UPS or Fed Ex shipping directly to your door.
SONEXclassic™
is the old standard in the industry and utilizes a
unique surface pattern that increases the effective surface area by as much as
400% over other flat materials. Any sound energy is directed deep into the
material where it is quietly converted to kinetic energy and dissipated. The
natural color of this melamine foam product is a pure white and is also
available in factory painted colors and a through colored charcoal dye version (Colortec.)
This pattern is also available in a polyurethane foam with several color
options. Available thicknesses are 2" in the melamine foams and 2", 3", and 4"
in the polyurethane foams.

SONEXone™
is a very popular product because it is
suitable for a wide range of applications and environments. From industrial to
architectural spaces these panels are effective and attractive noise control
solutions. The convolutions (ridges and valleys) in this surface pattern are not
as deep as in the SONEXclassic and the resultant look is very contemporary. In
addition to the natural white and painted varieties, a protective hypalon
coating is available for added surface protection and durability. Hypalon repels
oils, acids, and solvents for easier cleaning. Available thicknesses are
2" and 3". Download Literature

SONEXvalueline™
panels offer effective yet affordable acoustic control. The surface pattern is
not as deep as either of the above patterns, but it still offers and attractive
finished look. These panels are available in the natural white and painted in
thicknesses of 1 1/2", 1 7/8", and 2 1/2".

SONEXmini™
is a thin version of the SONEXclassic and is available in the natural white and
painted in thickness of 1" and 1 1/2"and also in a polyurethane foam version.

SONEXpyramid™
is another attractive alternative to
the other patterns. It is available in white and painted in thickness of 2", 3",
4", and 6" and also in a polyurethane foam version.

SONEXsuper™
is the answer for severe absorption
characteristics such as in test facilities and low frequency applications.
It is available in 12" x 12" sheets (minimum 30 sheets per order) in white and
painted and a polyurethane foam version. The standard thickness for this product
is 6". For test facilities the SONEXmax™
is the choice. These are the custom made
wedges with the customer specified wedge base and wedge height dimensions.
AcouSTIK
adhesive is the preferred method of gluing illbruck panels to the substrate.
The 10.5 oz. tubes will generally install about 32 Sq. Ft. of panels each. The
factory recommends a 1/4" bead around the perimeter about 1" in from the back
edge then a "X" across the back. This should be enough to do the job.
PROSPEC
Composites are the answer when trying to stop noise transmission through a
substrate. They consist of a 1" foam layer, a 1/8" vinyl barrier layer, then a
1/4" foam layer (total thickness 1 3/8") for gluing to the substrate. The
melamine version has a light grey hypalon coating and the polyurethane has a
black tuftane coating. These coatings provide protection and allow for easier
cleaning.
PROSPEC
Foams are 1" thick . The melamine version has a light grey hypalon
coating and the polyurethane version has a black tuftane coating. These coatings
provide protection and allow for easier cleaning.
